Whatsapp Rolling Out In-App Dialer in 2024
WhatsApp is currently developing a feature that allows its users to make calls using WiFi or cellular data directly from the app. Over the past two years, the application, owned by Meta, has undergone significant transformations.
From introducing new ways to categorize chats to simplifying group video calls, the user experience has been significantly enhanced. Now, according to Mobile App Daily, the technology giant is introducing a convenient new feature for its users.
The new development involves an in-app dialer that enables users to place calls directly from the app without the need to save phone numbers first.
Previously, the Meta app’s policy required users to save contact numbers before connecting, a measure designed to shield users from unknown callers and protect personal information.
With the introduction of the in-app dialer, WhatsApp can now function as a default dialer, thereby facilitating connectivity with numbers not saved in the user’s contact list.
Privacy settings will continue to govern the visibility of personal information such as profile pictures and usernames, which will only be visible once the contact number is saved.
Currently, the in-app dialer feature is in the testing phase within the WhatsApp Beta program and will be available to a select group of users participating in this program.
