In a notable development, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has distributed an in-depth 5G strategy document to the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications (MoIT&T).

This crucial paper, formulated by PTA experts following industry-wide discussions, presents a strategic plan for the nationwide implementation and assimilation of 5G networks.

Under the guidance of the newly designated Federal Secretary for the Ministry of IT, Captain (Retd) Muhammad Mehmood, this strategy document is set to be reviewed by the Ministry of Finance, as reported by ProPakistani.

The strategy document covers a wide range of key elements vital for the effective inauguration of 5G services. It spans from preparation and expectations within the industry to the resolution of issues and the establishment of regulatory structures, providing a comprehensive overview of the path to 5G adoption.

Furthermore, it highlights the potential of 5G networks to enhance emerging technologies, thrusting Pakistan into a new era of innovation and enhanced connectivity.

A critical aspect of introducing 5G involves assessing the available spectrum, a responsibility meticulously carried out by the Frequency Allocation Board (FAB).

A recent meeting by the board was held to scrutinize the spectrum scenario for 5G implementation, focusing on strategies for its best allocation and usage. The upcoming release of the meeting’s minutes is anticipated to offer transparency and detailed insights into the spectrum designated for 5G services.

Insiders indicate that once the Frequency Allocation Board assigns the spectrum and the 5G strategy document is shared with the Finance Ministry, the federal government is expected to issue a policy directive for 5G’s introduction.

Following this directive, the PTA plans to proceed by engaging consultants for the 5G launch.
